Save
File → Save Scene / Ctrl + S
Saved maps will appear in the Assets → Scenes panel and can be double-clicked to open.
The map is actually saved at: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mushreb\BME4\Assets\Scenes\
Add Objects
Find the needed object in the Assets → Items panel and drag it into the Scene window to add it.
You'll see it at the end of the list in the Hierarchy window, and you can adjust its position, posture, scale and other provided parameters in the Inspector window.
Undo
Edit → Undo / Ctrl + Z, also #1 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Don't rely too much on undo, and make a backup before making destructive changes.
Redo
Edit → Redo / Ctrl + Y, also #2 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Adjust View
Translation
Hold MouseMiddle or MouseRight and drag.
Rotation
Hold Alt + MouseLeft and drag.
Zoom
Use MouseScroll.
Travel
Hold Alt + MouseRight to enter travel mode. Drag to change the orientation of the camera; hold W to go forward, S backward, A left, D right, Q down and E up.
Focus
F
The view will automatically change to focus on the selected object, and set the current position as the center of view adjustments.
All view adjustment operations depend on the center of view adjustments. If you have trouble adjusting the view, try using focus to change the center of view adjustments.
Three Views
Click the arrows of the coordinate axis at the top-right corner.
Toggle Perspective / Orthogonal View
The current view (Persp / Ortho) is shown below the coordinate axis at the top-right corner, and can be clicked to toggle. Orthogonal view is very useful when fine-tuning layouts.
Adjusting Objects
Spectator Mode
Q, also #3 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
In this mode you can't select or make any change to objects.
Moving Mode
W, also #4 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Drag the three axis arrows to move the object in those directions, or drag the plane symbols to move it in those planes.
Rotation Mode
E, also #5 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Drag the three colored arcs to rotate the object in the corresponding planes, or drag the big white circle to rotate it in the projection plane, or drag the circular surface to rotate it freely.
Scaling Mode
R, also #6 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Drag the three handles to scale the object in those directions. You can drag to the negative semi-axis, in which case the object will become a mirror of itself.
For fixed objects, there's no need to scale them in most cases; for machinery, most of them behave unexpectedly once scaled. So don't scale an object when there's another way.
Ruler Mode
T, also #7 button of the toolbar at the top-right corner.
Drag the handles at the corners of the rectangle to scale the object, and the current size will be shown in real time. Rotate your view to switch to another plane to operate.
Quantization
Ctrl / Shift, hold to enable and release to disable.
When quantization is enabled, you can move in units of 0.5, rotate in units of 15°, scale by 50% relative to the current size, and align the ruler in units of 0.5.
Multi-select
In the Scene window: hold Shift and select objects one by one, or hold MouseLeft and box-select.
In the Hierarchy window: use the common multi-select methods with Ctrl Shift.
When multi-selecting in the Scene window, an object is regarded as selected as long as any part of its collider enters the box.
To avoid selecting unneeded objects as much as possible, it's recommended to operate from an overlook view.
Duplicate Objects
Edit → Duplicate / Ctrl + D
A new object is created at the same position and appears at the end of the list in the Hierarchy window.
Delete Objects
Edit → Delete / Delete
Create Starting Point, Check Point and Destination
Assets → Items → CheckPoint
Check points don't distinguish with each other and can be activated multiple times. You will always be reborn from the last activated check point.
You complete the level upon entering the destination; you don't need to activate all check points.
Test Map
File → Export BMSX → Test Map / File → Test Map / F9
Ballex will launch automatically if you've set the Ballex path correctly.
The destination can't be activated in test map mode.
Teleport to Next Section
Ctrl + P
Instantly teleport to the checkpoint of the next section (except the destination). If you're already in the last section, nothing happens.
Fly
Ctrl + G
When activated, the player ball is not affected by gravity, and you can Ascend / Descend with W / S.
Press it again to cancel fly mode.
